Random Access Memory (RAM) is a type of hardware that your computer uses to store information. Adding memory is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve your computer's performance.Dell™ Branded memory offered in the Memory Selector has gone through rigorous quality assurance and quality control testing to ensure it will work with your specific Dell System so it is fully compatible and supported by Dell. Getting unqualified or generic products from other vendors can cause downtime that can seriously cost your business and put your entire system at risk.Memory offered now may differ in speed from the original system memory but has been qualified to work in the system. When mixed, the memory will perform at the lowest speed populated or the highest speed allowed by the system.
To buy the right hard drive it is important that you know the interface type of your computer. The interface type determines the compatibility to a system.Common interface types today are IDE (also known as PATA), SATA, or SCSI. SCSI interface type may come in different pin configurations.Hard drives are system specific for Laptops. However, you need to know the interface type for desktops and servers to choose the right product. Hence we recommend that you use the Service Tag feature in the Parts For Your Dell™ tool to choose the right hard drive for your desktop or server. For Laptops, you can either use System Drill Down or Service Tag feature.Speed and Capacity determine how much data can be stored and how fast the data can be accessed. The higher the capacity, the more data can be stored.Similarly, the higher the speed, the faster the computer can access or write data to/from the hard drive. Please note that some of our replacement products are provided as kits or assemblies. These kits may contain additional parts required for installation; these parts will be listed separately as 'Component Parts' in the Highlights section of this page. In case a product is not sold as a kit or assembly, it may require complementary parts for ease of installation.
